Viva sums up the results of 2024

“2024 was not just a year of growth for Viva, but an important step into a new era of digital convergence. The Company has transformed into a single digital ecosystem offering mobile and fixed communications, television, cloud services, various applications and innovative IT solutions. We have created comprehensive solutions that have become an integral part of our customers' daily lives. The digital world has become closer, more convenient and more accessible. The rebranding carried out in 2024 reflected a qualitatively new stage of Viva's digital transformation and emphasized our values ​​and vision in the modern digital era. Our achievements were made possible owing to the Viva team – professionals, who daily translate the vision of the future into reality. We have been, remain and will be industry leaders. We thank our subscribers for their trust and support. We have walked this path together. And the best is yet to come,” Viva’s General Director Armen Avetisian said. 

 

Subscribers

As of the end of 2024, Viva has 2.3 million subscribers, which is 1.2% more than in 2023. The number of Internet service users has also increased by the same amount. The vast majority of subscribers – more than 80% – actively uses mobile Internet.

Revenues

The Company recorded stable growth in financial indicators in 2024. Operating income and income from Internet services increased by approximately 6% compared to 2023, amounting to AMD 56.86 billion and AMD 28.76 billion, respectively.

 

The growth of key indicators was due to an increase in revenue from telecommunications services, which was facilitated by initiatives implemented within the framework of the strategy aimed at creating additional value for subscribers, including tariff plans with digital services and unlimited Internet.

 

Dividend payout

Viva's net profit for the year increased by more than 30%, which allowed the Company to pay dividends to shareholders in the amount of AMD 10 billion, in proportion to their shares. The Republic of Armenia, as 20% shareholder in Viva Armenia, received AMD 2 billion in dividends.

 

 

Digital solutions and Internet add-ons to tariffs

1. The prepaid tariff plan "START+" was launched, making traditional services (voice and Internet services) and digital services, including subscriptions to "Yandex Plus" and "Kinodaran", more accessible. "START+" is the most popular in the regions, providing access to music without advertising, exclusive releases, film and multi-genre literary content, as well as to Yandex Go.

2. The volumes of Internet and voice packages for the "X", "Y", and "UNLIM" tariff plans have been increased.

3. Subscriptions to "Kinodaran", "Yandex Plus" and "Иви" are included without a monthly fee in the "UNLIM" tariff plan, providing access to high-quality digital services.

4. YouTube has been added to the list of unlimited applications included in the "Y" tariff plan, making it one of the best offers of the year.

5. Travel packages have been developed, including the "VOYAGE" service. The “VOYAGE 30” package (AMD 1,500 for 1,000 MB for 30 days) is available in more than 70 countries. The number of roaming users has increased by 35%, and those of the Internet traffic has almost doubled.

6. Wi-Fi Calling and VoLTE services, available only to Viva subscribers, continue to be in increasing demand. Viva has developed an innovative solution for receiving and sending SMS via Wi-Fi Calling as an exclusive service for its subscribers. A 70% increase in users was recorded, and voice traffic increased by 74%. Abroad, the number of users has doubled, and traffic has increased 3 times. More than 1 million subscribers use VoLTE, which provides HD quality and a connection in ≈1.5 seconds.

7. At the end of 2024, a new tariff plan "UNLIM Basic" was introduced, now providing unlimited Internet for AMD 2999.

8. In 2024, new features became available to subscribers in the “My Viva” mobile application. In particular, thanks to the “Online Chat” function, a subscriber can contact the support service 111 for free from anywhere in the world and get the necessary help without having to make a call. The application also introduced the ability to connect and manage the “VOYAGE 30” service, as well as use the “Super BIT+” service, which, when activated, gives the subscriber twice as many megabytes for the same price. In addition, the subscriber can easily compare and select the tariff plan that best suits his needs.

Convergent solutions and new markets

In 2024, Viva introduced the "RED" tariff plan, based on the convergence of technologies to offer more convenient and flexible telecommunications solutions. This partnership is a real alternative to other convergent services available on the market. "RED" is an open partnership platform for companies providing fixed Internet and TV channels that can meet Viva's requirements. This partnership allows fixed-line operators to grow, develop their network and subscriber base.

A subscriber to this tariff plan with a 3 in 1 package can use fixed Internet, mobile communications and the mobile data, as well as the services of the "Kinodaran" application, the online cinema "Иви" and watch about 150 TV channels covering a wide range of interests. As a result, the subscriber continues to use Viva's mobile communications, and chooses a fixed-line operator at his own discretion. "RED" is a rewarding package for the whole family.

 

Prepaid and postpaid subscribers of other Armenian operators can also join the “RED” platform if they wish, using the number portability service. Viva currently records a 400% increase in the number of “RED” subscribers compared to 2024.

Cloud services revenue in 2024 amounted to AMD 100.55 million, an increase of 4.3% compared to 2023.

 

Taxes and duties

Viva continues to lead the telecom sector in terms of tax and duty payments to the state budget.

 

In 2024, the Company paid AMD 18.2 billion in taxes, which is AMD 2.44 billion (about 16%) more than in 2023 (AMD 15.7 billion).  

 

In terms of the volume of taxes and duties paid compared to the previous year, the Company recorded the largest increase in payments compared to other companies in the telecommunications sector.

 

Network modernization

In 2024, Viva implemented a large-scale network modernization program:

47 new base stations were built, 40 of which were put into operation in 2024, the rest – in early 2025. They have been allocated in different regions of the state, by expanding the existing coverage. Infrastructure and systems were modernized, ensuring ease of use of services on:

  • interstate highways
  • tourist areas
  • remote areas

  • 4G/LTE — 99.6% of populated areas

 

Acquisition of frequencies for large-scale expansion of the 5G network

 

In response to a journalist’s question about Viva’s upcoming plans for building a 5G network, the company’s General Director Armen Avetisian said: “Since the press conference was about the results of 2024, we did not initially include the 5G issue in the agenda. The public knows that Viva prefers to implement first and only then talk about it. Viva now has twice as much radio frequency resources as before, which is the result of the largest investment ever made in radio frequency acquisition in Viva's history: an investment of AMD 2.5 billion to obtain permission to use radio frequencies for the 5G network, which took place on this April 2. We will inform you about technological innovations in more detail additionally. I can only add that a number of services and products have already been designed in anticipation of the large-scale implementation of 5G. We will implement and inform you."

Viva has received permits from the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia to use the 2300-2350 MHz and 2350-2400 MHz radio frequency bands for the deployment of 5G mobile broadband technologies. Over the next 7 years, the Company plans to gradually deploy/implement the 5G network on existing and new highways, border and customs points, all cities, as well as the Academic and Engineering Cities. Viva is the first Company in Armenia to launch a 5G network in the centers of Yerevan and Gyumri.

 

Decentralization of digital infrastructure and job creation in the regions

Viva actively develops regional infrastructure, following the principle of decentralization. Based on this, the Company also focuses, whenever possible, on the development of digital technologies in the regions.

 

The Vanadzor Call center has become a model of successful decentralization of digital infrastructure: the digital platform makes it possible to have a common infrastructure and operate in different geographical locations, contributing to increasing subscriber satisfaction.

 

Viva's solutions contribute to the creation of jobs in the regions and reducing the development gap between the capital and other areas. In 2023, the Vanadzor Call Center employed 20 specialists, and now the number of employees has increased to 32.

 

A new Service Center has also opened in Gogavan on the Northern border of Armenia, which provides access to all Viva services for tourists and those traveling abroad.

 

Viva and Armenian film production: at the intersection of business and support for art

A year ago, Viva began cooperation with the “Kinodaran” platform, which provides high-quality Armenian content. The platform aims to attract even the audience that has not previously shown interest in Armenian TV series. Viva believed in the project, providing support and becoming a partner.

 

Within respective tariff plans, the content is available exclusively to Viva subscribers. The platform is now the first Armenian streaming platform that offers films, series, programs and cartoons in Armenian, as well as its own original production. Compared to 2023, the number of “Kinodaran”  users within Viva's tariff plans has tripled.

 

 

Corporate Social Responsibility

In 2024, Viva continued to support various ICT projects that contribute to improving Armenia's competitiveness. The Company is the general partner of the State Prize of the Republic of Armenia for Global Contribution to High Technologies, which has been awarded for 14 years in a row. The Company supports projects aimed at strengthening Armenia's role in the world, increasing GDP, developing the country's competitive advantages and the startup ecosystem. Viva's social investments are aimed at supporting initiatives such as the National Autism Foundation, the “Paros” Choir of the “Unison” NGO, the “Source” Foundation, environmental programs and projects that make life easier for rural communities and help reduce the development gap between the capital and the regions. Support has been provided to Warrior’s House Rehabilitation Center. Since foundation, the Company has invested over AMD 29 billion in social projects.

 

"Viva University": Opportunities for Self-Discovery and Development

For students, finding a job in large companies is not an easy task, since they do not always have enough practical knowledge and skills. The “Viva University” program solves this problem by providing students with the opportunity to learn business management, customer communication, and the basics of presentation and self-presentation. Within the framework of this program, students acquire professional knowledge and skills necessary for successful employment in the telecommunications industry. During the internship, project participants are paid a salary. The program has existed for 10 years and helps graduates adapt to the labor market.

 

Effective Anti-Corruption Policy: A Competitive Advantage for a Digital Company

One of the company's significant achievements is the implementation of international standards in the field of Compliance and anti-corruption management - ISO 37001 "Anti-corruption management systems" and ISO 19600 "Compliance management systems".

These standards were first applied in Armenia by the company in 2018 and since then remain the basis for building an effective system of fair business conduct, which is confirmed by the results of work in 2024.
