eSIM

eSIM is the electronic equivalent of the SIM card for those, whose smartphones are compatible with eSIM technology. eSIM cards are available at all the Viva service centers. If you are a Viva subscriber, you can replace your active SIM card with an eSIM.



Advantages

  • eSIM enables to have several phone numbers in one smartphone and activate one of them any time.
  • It’s impossible to lose or damage an eSIM card, it’s always at hand – in your smartphone.

  • You may have several electronic SIM cards in your smartphone and easily switch between them.

 

 

 

 

     How to activate eSim card

The activation is the same both in case of replacing an existing SIM card with an eSIM and in case of purchasing a new eSIM.

You can see the eSIM activation for iPhone in the video and pictures (the process is almost the same for other smartphones).

Below you can see an example of eSIM QR code:


The QR code is not an eSIM but a link to download it. That’s why you need a stable Internet connection to activate the eSIM with a QR code. If your smartphone doesn’t have a SIM card with mobile Internet, make sure to connect to an available Wi-Fi network.

If you’ve replaced a SIM card with an eSIM, the physical SIM card must be removed: it isn’t valid any longer. And if you want to move an active eSIM from one smartphone to another using the QR code, you need to delete it from the previous smartphone, so that it’ll be possible to activate the eSIM in the new smartphone. Don’t turn off the Internet until the downloading process and eSIM activation are completed.

 

Notes
  • A smartphone compatible with eSIM technology is required. An electronic SIM card will not work with a recently released but incompatible smartphone

  • The eSIM card is electronic and has the same functions as the SIM card. It is inserted into the smartphone, but unlike a physical SIM card, it doesn’t have a plastic body.
  • Everything possible with the physical SIM card is possible with the eSIM as well: making calls, sending SMS, using the Internet. If your smartphone is compatible with eSIM technology, you can turn it on at any time.
  • Both prepaid and postpaid subscribers can switch from a physical SIM card to an eSIM, whether they are activating an existing or a new phone number.
  • In the case of an active subscription, prepaid and postpaid subscribers are charged AMD 500 (VAT included) for replacing the SIM with an eSIM; and in the case of a new subscription, the subscriber pays only for his/her tariff plan.
  • The activation of an eSIM card is possible either through a QR code received via email or in a paper form. In the case of replacing the smartphone, first you need to remove the eSIM profile from the old one and then use the same QR code on the new smartphone to reactivate the profile.
  • In order to activate the eSIM card, you need to visit any of the Viva service centers with your passport.
  • A QR code for an eSIM may be used for only one subscription.
  • If email authentication was performed during the activation of the eSIM card, in case of losing the QR code you can receive it again at your email address:
    • by contacting the call center at 111,
    • through the “Internet Assistant” self-care portal,
    • in social networks, by contacting our operators through Viva’s official pages and messengers,
    • by visiting any of our service centers.
  • eSIM QR code provides access to your phone number. Even after attaching the eSIM to your smartphone, keep the code in a secure place, do not share it through messengers, do not post it on social networks. This can be exploited by scammers.
